Wheel damage we repair

Alloy wheels take a beating from curbs, potholes and road salt, and most of the damage is visible long before it becomes a safety question. These are the kinds of wheel damage we repair:

  • Curb rash and scratches — the scraped lip and rim edge from parking too close to a curb

  • Peeling or damaged paint — flaking clear coat, chipped color and worn finish

  • Corrosion — pitting and oxidation on the wheel surface

  • Bent wheels — assessed first; some bent-wheel repairs need specialized equipment

  • Cracked wheels — assessed first; some cracked-wheel repairs need outside specialist help

The work ranges from cosmetic restoration to more extensive repair. Not every damaged wheel should be repaired, so we evaluate each one and tell you plainly what it needs.

Custom wheel colors, mixed in our own shop

We have our own professional paint-mixing equipment at Auto Clinique. That means we create and match colors ourselves, and we are not limited to factory colors. Tell us what color you want and we work on creating it for your wheels.

Custom wheel color changes are something we have done many times. Customers have had us change black wheels to red and gray wheels to black, along with other custom color transformations. If you would rather keep things as they were, we refinish the wheel to its original color.

Wheels we work on

  • Alloy and aluminum wheels

  • Chrome wheels

  • Diamond-cut wheels

  • Steel wheels

We have worked with different wheel materials, finishes and styles. Each needs a different approach, so we evaluate the wheel before choosing the repair or refinishing method.

How wheel repair and refinishing works

Wheel repair cost in Dallas

Wheel repair and refinishing starts at $180 per wheel. What you pay depends on:

  • The extent of the damage

  • The type and material of the wheel

  • The repair work required

  • The refinishing and color customization you want

We give you the final price after we evaluate the wheel and the work you want done. The table shows how each kind of damage is handled.

Damage How we handle it
Curb rash and scratches Repaired and refinished
Peeling or damaged paint Refinished, with a 1-year warranty against paint peeling
Corrosion Evaluated, then repaired and refinished
Bent wheel Assessed first; may need specialized equipment or an outside specialist, which we coordinate
Cracked wheel Assessed first; may need specialized equipment or an outside specialist, which we coordinate
Custom color change Paint mixed in our shop to the color you choose

Wheel repair warranty: what is covered and what is not

The two kinds of work are treated differently, and we would rather you know exactly where you stand.

Wheel painting and refinishing: we give a 1-year warranty against paint peeling on the refinishing work we do.

Physical or structural wheel damage: there is no warranty against future damage. A wheel can be damaged again by potholes, hitting a curb, impacts or accidents, and we cannot warrant against road conditions.

Tire removal, mounting and balancing

Wheel work often means taking the tire off. We arrange tire removal, mounting and balancing for our customers, but we do not do those particular jobs in our shop. Outside service providers who specialize in them do the work, and we handle the arrangements, so you can still bring your car to Auto Clinique without coordinating it yourself.

Serving Dallas, Plano and North Texas

The shop is on Preston Road in far-north Dallas, a few hundred yards from the Plano line, so wheel repair in Plano, Frisco, Richardson, Allen and McKinney is a short drive. If the rest of the car needs work too, see our auto body repair and paint and body repair cost guide.

Wheel repair FAQs

Wheel repair and refinishing at Auto Clinique starts at $180 per wheel. The final price depends on how much damage there is, the type and material of the wheel, the repair work needed, and any refinishing or custom color you want. We give you the price after we evaluate the wheel.

Typically 2 to 3 days, whether you bring in one wheel or a full set of four. The paint has to dry and cure properly before the polishing and finishing work, and we would rather take that time than rush the finish.

Yes. We have our own professional paint-mixing equipment, so we create the color ourselves and are not limited to factory colors. Customers have had us change black wheels to red and gray wheels to black, among other custom color changes.

Yes. Curb rash, scratches, peeling or damaged paint and corrosion are all wheel damage we repair and refinish. We evaluate each wheel first and choose the repair method that suits its type, material and finish.

We handle bent and cracked wheels, but these repairs can need specialized equipment or outside help. Depending on the damage, some go to a specialist wheel repair facility, and we coordinate that for you so you do not have to find another shop. We assess the wheel first.

Virtually all types: alloy and aluminum, chrome, diamond-cut and steel wheels. Different materials and finishes need different methods, so each wheel is evaluated before we decide how to repair or refinish it.

It depends on the work. Wheel painting and refinishing carries a 1-year warranty against paint peeling. We do not offer a warranty on repairs for physical or structural damage, because a wheel can be damaged again by potholes, curbs, impacts or accidents.

Not in our shop. We can arrange tire removal, mounting and balancing for you through outside providers who specialize in it, and we handle the arrangements so you can still bring the car to Auto Clinique.
