How your repair works, in three steps
Repair or replace? How we decide
This is the question we get asked most, and the answer is not always the one that costs more. A panel is worth repairing when the metal can be brought back to its original shape without stretching it, when the damage has not reached a structural member, and when the labour to straighten it costs less than the part plus the labour to fit and refinish it. A panel needs replacing when it is torn, badly stretched, creased through a body line, or when corrosion has already started behind the damage.
Two things push the decision toward replacement more often than people expect. The first is bonded and high-strength steel: on many newer vehicles the manufacturer specifies replacement rather than repair for certain panels, because heating and reshaping the metal changes how it is designed to crumple in the next collision. The second is time: on a badly damaged door skin, straightening can take longer than fitting a new one, so repairing it is both slower and dearer.
We will show you the damage on your own car and explain which of these applies before you decide. If a repair is genuinely the better option, we will say so — a replacement panel is a larger invoice for us and the wrong recommendation costs us the next job.
Insurance claims: in Texas, you choose the shop
Your insurer may hand you a list of “preferred” or “approved” shops and imply that you have to use one. In Texas, you do not. The Texas Department of Insurance puts it plainly in its consumer auto insurance guide: “Some companies might give you a list of preferred repair shops, but they can’t require you to use a shop on its list.”
The shop is your choice. We work directly with all major insurance companies, document the damage properly, and deal with the adjuster ourselves so you are not relaying messages between us. If the first estimate misses damage that only appears once the panel is off — which is common — we raise a supplement rather than quietly cutting corners to fit the original figure.

What to check before you accept the car back
Collect the car in daylight, not at dusk under the shop’s lights, and take ten minutes before you sign anything. This is what to look at:
Colour and finish. Stand back about ten feet and look at the repaired panel against the one next to it from several angles. Paint that matches head-on can still shift in colour when you move. Look along the panel for texture — a repaired area should have the same fine grain as the factory paint, not a smoother or glossier patch.
Panel gaps. The gap between a door and a fender should be even from top to bottom, and should mirror the gap on the other side of the car. Uneven gaps usually mean something underneath has not been brought back into position.
Everything that opens and closes. Open and shut the repaired door, hood or trunk several times. It should move the way the undamaged side does, latch without being forced, and seal properly.
Warning lights and electronics. Start the car and check the dashboard. If a bumper or mirror carrying parking sensors, a camera or radar was removed, confirm those systems still work before you leave.
The paperwork. Ask for the final invoice itemised against the estimate, and ask what the warranty covers and for how long. Ours is one year on parts and labour, and we put that in writing rather than leaving it as something said at the counter.

How long will my auto body repair take?
It depends entirely on what is damaged. A single paintless dent can be done while you wait. A panel repair and respray usually needs the car for a few days, because paint has to cure properly. Structural work takes longer again, and longer still if a part has to be ordered. We give you a realistic timeline in writing with the estimate rather than a number that sounds good on the phone, and we tell you if a parts delay changes it.
Will the new paint match the rest of my car?
Matching is the whole craft of refinishing. Paint fades with Texas sun and age, so the colour on your seven-year-old door is no longer the colour on the factory paint code. We match to the car in front of us, not just to the code, and blend into the adjacent panels so the repair has no visible edge.
Do I have to use the body shop my insurance company recommends?
No. Texas Department of Insurance guidance is explicit that an insurer may suggest a list but cannot require you to use a shop on it. You choose the shop; your insurer pays the claim.
Is paintless dent repair better than traditional bodywork?
It is better when it is possible. PDR works the metal back into shape from behind, with no filler and no paint, so it is faster, cheaper, and it keeps your original factory finish. It stops being an option when the paint is cracked, the dent sits on a sharp body line, or the metal has stretched — then the panel needs conventional repair and refinishing. Do you work on European and luxury vehicles?
Yes. We service most makes and models, European marques included, and a large share of the body work that comes through this shop is on German and British cars from the Plano and Frisco area.
